Fayetteville Film Fest 2016

14222291_342812299384512_1729479735531849746_nAs a special additional accolade for winning the “Best Film” award at the Little Rock 48 Hour Film Project 2016, our short “Sector 7” was granted an impromptu screening at the Fayetteville Film Fest 2016  Wednesday night, right before the feature film “Your Local News” (Dir. – Tyler Dunivan and Josh Irwin). Kelly, Chris and I, along with 4HRFPLR Coordinator Jeff Hahn, attended and were all very pleased with the reactions the film garnered from the theater attendees. We wish to sincerely thank the Fayetteville Film Fest cast and crew for supporting us and screening our film, which is likely the last time that it will be shown to the public until it competes in the Filmapalooza 2017 global competition in Seattle (March 2017). The rest of the crew headed back to Little Rock later that evening or midday Thursday, but I decided to stick around an extra night and catch up on some films that I had yet to have the chance to see, including the very funny “Roman Bickerstaff : the Rise and Fall of an R.A.” (which went on to win the Audience Choice Award), “Righteous Indignation” , and “Mud Bugs” . The small amount of time that I was able to spend visiting with the very talented local filmmakers and enjoying the fruits of their efforts was made even more enjoyable by the outstanding efforts of the festival staff. Beginning with my initial pre-travel conversations with the supremely tuned-in Morgan Hicks to the attention to detail provided by Robert Babcock and the hospitality of Jason Suel and the rest of the amazing staff (Jules Taylor, Mark Landon Smith, everyone else who stepped up and knocked it out of the park), all flying under the expert tutelage of  FFF Executive Director Dan Robinson, there was not a moment that passed in which I didn’t feel as if I was completely at home and welcomed. There were far too many smiling faces and helping hands to thank individually, but I definitely want to thank the staff at large for their efforts and say that their attempts were unequivocally appreciated and noticed. I would have loved to have been able to stay a couple more days (Fayetteville also has a high concentration of foodie joints), and next year I will plan to extend my visit. Kudos to all the staff again, thank you to all of the filmmakers that set to the task of creating so that the programming could be made possible, and a hearty congratulations to this year’s FFF winners!
